Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reviewed the situation arising in Andhra Pradesh over the reporting of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) cases in some parts and asked the official machinery to remain on high alert and allay fears among the people on its spread.
Health and Medical Education Minister Satya Kumar and Health and Medical Principal Secretary MT Krishna Babu briefed him on the prevailing situation.
Two deaths have been reported in the State -- one from Srikakulam and another at Guntur Government Hospital in a span of 10 days.
The Health Minister later said one Kamalamma died at Guntur on Sunday, a 10-year old boy succumbed while undergoing treatment at Srikakulam.
GBS is an autoimmune neurological disorder. The Minister said as on Monday, they have recorded 17 cases at an incidence rate of two per one lakh population.
