Vijayawada: Predicting an IT-type revolution by drone technology in future, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced efforts to develop Amaravati as drone capital of India and allot 300 acres to transform Kurnool into a drone hub and train drone pilots on regular basis. Naidu further said that he will be the best ambassador for the drone industry to promote its ecosystem and transform the State into a drone hub.

Inaugurating two-day drone summit being organised here under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation, he said when he was the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, he had initiated the development of Cyberabad by laying the foundation stone for Hi-Tech City at Madhapur in Hyderabad in 1995.

“Now, everyone knows how digital technologies are calling the shots. In the near future, drone technology will have a dominant role in our lifestyle,” he asserted.

Amid loud applause from drone technologists, startups, innovators and investors, he shared his visionary roadmap for the future of drone technology in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the audience, he outlined how these innovations would drive the State’s growth and keep Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of technology-driven development.

Reflecting on his leadership in the 1990s, the Chief Minister spoke about the early days of India’s IT revolution. He recalled launching the country’s first IT project, Hi-Tech City, through a public-private partnership (PPP) in 1995, which transformed Hyderabad into a tech hub. He reminisced about his efforts to bring global tech giants like Microsoft to India, leveraging the country’s strengths in English and mathematics. He also mentioned how it was Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who finally accepted his proposal to deregulate the telecom sector, opening the door to mobile

technology in India.

In his address, Naidu also praised the current leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We are fortunate to have a dynamic Prime Minister in Narendra Modiji, who has promoted Brand India across the world. Under his leadership, India is on track to become the third-largest economy globally,”

he said.

He expressed his confidence that if all worked together, the country could rise to be the number one economy in the world.
