Massive Constructions In Offing For Capital City Of Amaravati
Amaravati: Immediately after completing six years in office, the TDP-led NDA Government has decided to complete the first phase of capital city construction at Amaravati with the awarding of works worth Rs24,276 crore and advancing the commissioning of Polavaram first phase project to October, 2026.
With a gigantic task ahead, the government wants to finalise short and long-term action plans to meet various deadlines for the twin projects. While the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting was held with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the chair, cleared the construction of trunk roads, layouts and iconic buildings, Naidu inspected the Polavaram project site and directed the officials to commence the construction of diaphragm wall in the New Year. The first phase of Polavaram, which was totally neglected during the YSRCP regime, will be completed by October, 2026, Naidu said.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana said after the CRDA meeting that till now works worth Rs45,249 crore have been cleared by the CRDA. The Assem-bly building will be built in an extent of 103 acres with a height of 250 meters in an extent of 11.22 lakh square meters. Except when the Assembly is in session, the people will be allowed to have a glimpse of the entire capital city of Amaravati from atop the Assembly building.
The eight storied High Court building will be built spreading over 20.32 lakh square feet in an extent of 42 acres at a cost of Rs1,048 crore. The Minister an iconic 47-storied tower will house the General Administration Department with 17,03 square feet. Five more towers are proposed with 68.88 lakh square feet at a cost of Rs4,688 crore.
