CBI Unearths NAAC Rating Scam, Arrests 10 From KLEF

Vijayawada: Investigation agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 10 persons including the key officials of Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF) located at Vaddeswaram in Guntur district for the corrupt practices followed in NSAC A++ accreditation rating case.
The case pertains to hefty amounts paid to secure a higher rating for KLEF by bribing the members and officials involved in the inspection for NAAC rating.
Sources said CBI has so far arrested 10 persons including the Chairman and six members of committee mandated to recommend the rating based on the infrastructure available at KLEF, popular as KL University.
According to the case, Saradhi Varma, Vice-Chancellor of KLEF GP, played a key role in the scam. CBI made the arrests after search operations in Vijayawada, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and other locations. According to indications, CBI is likely to arrest more members involved in the scam.
