Araku Coffee Aroma Finds Its Way To Parliament

Visakhapatnam: Araku Coffee, raised organically in the tribal valleys of undivided Visakhapatnam district known for its unique aroma and flavour, is now available in the Parliament with the opening of its outlets in both the Houses from Monday.

Araku Coffee, which got featured in Prime Minister Narenda Modi's Mann Ki Baat programme and has an exclusive outlet in Paris, is now being promoted in a big way by the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) with plans to open its outlets on the lines of well-known brands. Araku Valley Coffee is a GI product. An estimated 1.5 lakh tribal families are involved in cultivating Araku Valley Coffee.

The stalls were declared open by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju in Lok Sabha and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in Rajya Sabha.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of State for Communication P Chandrasekhar, Minister for Tribal Welarfe from AP Sandhya Rani and MPs from AP M Sribharat and CM Ramesh attended the programme. Vizianagaram MP Kalisetty Appalanaidu said: "I am very happy that now everyone knows the journey of Araku Coffee from the Eastern Ghats to the Parliament."

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took to X, to say: "great news for coffee enthusiasts in the Parliament! You can now enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Araku Coffee right on the premises.

My heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi Ji, for championing Araku Coffee in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and to Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri @ombirlakota Ji, for kindly granting permission to set up this stall."

He said "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose efforts and dedication made this milestone a reality. This is a moment of pride for all of us, especially our tribal farmers, whose dedication and hard work have brewed Araku Coffee to the highest levels of national acclaim. As we enjoy each cup, let’s also remember their inspiring journey!"
