APPSC Group-II Mains Exam Postponed Amid Roster System Case

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has postponed the Group-II Mains examination, originally scheduled for February 23, following a request from the Andhra Pradesh government.
According to sources, the state government urged the APPSC to defer the exam due to unresolved errors in the roster system, which are currently under judicial review. The matter is pending before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, with a hearing set for March 11.
In its official communication to the commission, the government highlighted that a writ petition had been filed challenging the APPSC’s notification for direct recruitment to Group-II posts. Petitioners argue that the notification contradicts a Supreme Court ruling and raises concerns about the allocation of roster slots for specialized categories.
On February 20, the High Court directed the government to file a counter in response to the petition. Given the ongoing legal proceedings, the state government maintained that conducting the examination before resolving these issues would not be in the best interests of candidates. As a result, it requested the APPSC to reschedule the exam to a more suitable date.
Further updates regarding the new examination schedule are expected after the court hearing.
