The State government has announced plans to revise land registration charges, with an increase of 15 to 20% on average, starting February 1, 2025. Minister for Revenue, Registration, and Stamps, Anagani Satya Prasad, disclosed the decision during a review meeting held at the Registration and Stamps IG office in Tadepalli on Monday. He directed officials to prepare a report by January 15 identifying areas where registration charges could either be increased or decreased.

“The State is gradually recovering from the financial strain caused by the previous YSRCP regime's excessive debts. To support development schemes, we have decided to adjust land registration charges,” the Minister explained.

Increased Charges in Growth Corridors

The hike will primarily target areas with significant growth corridors and higher land values. This approach is expected to generate additional revenue while aligning charges with market trends.

First-of-Its-Kind Reduction in Some Areas

Interestingly, the Minister also announced plans to reduce registration charges in specific areas. He criticized the previous government for increasing charges indiscriminately without a scientific approach, which led to registration fees exceeding actual land prices in some regions. The reduction of charges in such areas will mark a first in the State’s history.

Revenue Growth on Track

The Minister highlighted the government’s revenue achievements, noting consistent growth over the past six months, with the exception of September. He expressed confidence in meeting the fiscal target of ₹9,500 crore for the current year.

This move aims to balance revenue generation with fair pricing, ensuring equitable charges across the State.
