AP Invites Cogniant To Open Office In Vizag
Visakhapatnam: After getting a commitment from TCS to set up a development centre in Visakhapatnam, Cognizant Technology Solutions may also come forward to open a campus.
The possibility brightened with the recent remarks made by IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh that there will be good news soon from Cognizant for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
After meeting Cognizant CEO S Ravi Kumar, on the sidelines of 55th annual meeting of World Economic Forum in Davos, Lokesh said he urged him to open a campus in tier-2 city like Visakhapatnam in tune with the IT major's policy.
Infosys also started its operations at a rented building during the erstwhile YSRCP regime. There are indications that Infosys may scale up their operations. TCS has signed an agreement with an IT company to use their building here at Rushikonda.
Lokesh has already promised TCS to allot space at the Millennium Towers if required. TCS has committed to open a 10,000 seater facility in the City of Destiny. Google is also in talks with the government to open an office in the city. In Davos, Lokesh told the Cognizant CEO that 2.2 million square feet of co-working space with a large talent pool is available in Visakhapatnam for immediate allotment.
