Amaravati: A meeting of the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC) was held at the State Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Nirab Kumar Prasad to review progress of fresh investment proposals.

The meeting discussed the proposals received from various companies and organisations to invest in the State and to recommend to the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for further approval.

Sources said the meeting resolved to recommend to SIPB the proposal made by TCS to set up a unit in Visakhapatnam to provide jobs to 2,000 in the first phase, proposals received for 500 units in different districts with thousands of crores The proposal made by Reliance for massive investment in the State was also referred to SIPB.TCS will be increasing headcount at Visakhapatnam centre to 10,000 in phases.

On this occasion, Nirab Kumar Prasad reviewed the implementation of the investment tracker. Similarly, the respective departments were ordered to monitor the large-scale investment and employment creation units. The General Manager of District Industries Centre with the help of the concerned department head at the district level and the department heads at the State level were directed to monitor the progress of the units from time to time.
