Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched India’s first RT-PCR kit developed at Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone Ltd (AMTZ) for diagnosis of monkeypox. The medtech zone developed by the State government in Visakhapatnam with the support of several manufacturers and startups is considered as an ultra modern medical equipment manufacturing and research hub. Earlier, AMTZ MD and CEO Dr Jitendra Sharma explained to him the achievements of the zone.

In a posting on micro-blogging site X, Naidu said, “Proud to launch India’s first indigenous Monkeypox RT-PCR Kit at AP Medtech Zone, Visakhapatnam. Developed at AMTZ with Transasia Diagnostics, this kit is validated by ICMR and CDSCO. The lyophilized components in the kit are designed to be suitable for shipping and use even in remote areas.”

Naidu said, “This kit enhances our epidemic preparedness manifold with its precise, reliable, and accessible diagnosis. This kit also reflects ‘Make in AP’ on the world stage, demonstrating India’s leadership in healthcare innovation. I congratulate the teams at AMTZ and Transasia Diagnostics for this innovation and commendation.”
