Amaravati: Observing that for the first time in the history of the State, district-wise development plans are being discussed at State-level, Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday felt that if the district collectors formulate plans for the development of their respective zones and implement them the future of the State will move on massive progressive path.

"We have five zones which are all power hubs. The first zone comprises Visakhapatnam while Rajamahendravaram is in second zone, the capital city of Amaravati in third zone, Tirupati is in fourth zone and finally Anantapuram in fifth.

If the district collectors formulate district development plans and implement them successfully, all the districts in the respective zones based on those power hubs, the future of the State will be very bright," the Chief Minister said during the second and final day of the district collectors conference held at the State Secretariat here.

One senior officer has been made incharge of each zone while every district has an incharge Minister, Naidu said and said that all of them should hold comprehensive discussions as to how to develop their respective districts and how to implement their plans at field-level.

From next month onwards all these senior officers should make ground-level visits for three to four days every month to know the facts at the grassroot-level and formulate necessary developmental plans to resolve them through real time, he added.

Recalling how the Communists came down heavily on him about 30 years ago when he made attempts to promote tourism, the Chief Minister said that he made it clear at that time itself that "there is no communism, capitalism or socialism. The future belongs entirely to tourism. I also said that the future will focus only on tourism and other aspects that create wealth for poverty eradication and that materialism will prevail," the Chief Minister recalled.

Mentioning this on the floor of the Telangana Assembly on Tuesday after 30 years, the CPI MLA told the House that Chandrababu Naidu made it clear as back as 30 years ago that tourism is the only sector that does not need any funding and that all the tourist places should be developed.

Everyone was angry at that time when Chandrababu Naidu made this statement, the CPI MLA told the Telangana Assembly, the Chief Minister pointed out.

"It took so much time to be conscious of the fact which I made 30 years ago. So, if all the district collectors can properly understand what I am saying now and implement them in real time at the ground level excellent results can be achieved," the Chief Minister told the meeting.
