Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the state budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Assembly, with a total outlay of Rs 3,22,359 crore.
The budget focuses on welfare schemes, infrastructure development, and subsidies, while projecting a revenue deficit of Rs 33,185 crore and a fiscal deficit of Rs 79,926 crore.
For 2025-26, revenue expenditure is pegged at Rs 2,51,162 crore, while capital expenditure stands at Rs 40,635 crore. The revenue deficit is estimated at Rs 33,185 crore, while the fiscal deficit is projected at Rs 79,926 crore.
The budget includes significant allocations for welfare programs, road infrastructure, irrigation, and industrial development:
Infrastructure Development
• Rs 6,000 crore for the construction of Amaravati
• Rs 4,220 crore for road construction and maintenance
• Rs 6,705 crore for Polavaram project
• Rs 2,800 crore for Jal Jeevan Mission
• Rs 605 crore for ports and airports
Welfare Schemes
• Rs 27,518 crore for NTR Bharosa Pension
• Rs 8,276 crore for Mother’s Salute scheme
• Rs 2,601 crore for Deepam 2.0 scheme
• Rs 450 crore for free electricity for handloom weavers and Nayi Brahmins
• Rs 400 crore for free electricity for SCs and STs
• Rs 6,300 crore for Annadata Sukhibhava scheme
Education and Health
• Rs 3,486 crore for the Manabadi scheme
• Rs 1,163 crore for the Bala Sanjeevani scheme
• Rs 3,377 crore for SC, ST, BC scholarships
Agriculture and Price Stabilization
• Rs 500 crore under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana
• Rs 300 crore for the Price Stabilization Fund
While Rs 12,000 crore was initially sought for the Mother’s Salute scheme, the budget has allocated Rs 8,276 crore, reflecting a funding reduction. The Deepam 2.0 scheme has also seen budget cuts, reducing beneficiaries from 1.55 crore to 90 lakh.
The government aims to balance social welfare spending with fiscal discipline. With a focus on fulfilling election promises and ensuring financial stability, the state plans to generate revenue through improved tax collection and industrial growth incentives.
The budget proposals will be debated in the Assembly before final approval.
