Amazon staffer held for Rs 3.22 cr fraud

A criminal complaint has been filed before the Economic Offences Wing police station in here against an Amazon employee from the Indian payroll. The complaint alleges that the employee misappropriated approximately Rs 3.22 crore by transferring funds into 50 bank accounts belonging to accomplices, thereby depriving 184 former or inactive employees of their rightful dues.
An FIR bearing No. 04/2024 was registered on April 3, 2024 under offences of dishonest misappropriation of property, criminal breach of trust etc., under sections 403,408,420,467,468,471,477-A, 201, r/w 120b of the Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Following a preliminary investigation, the Economic Offences Wing police station arrested the accused on May 20, 2024 from the outskirts of the city. Subsequently, the ACP, Economic Offences Wing police station has requested the presence of two officials from Amazon’s office to sign as independent witnesses on the arrest memo.
