Allu Arjun Arrest: Tragic Stampede at 'Pushpa 2' Premiere Sparks Investigation
Popular film actor Allu Arjun has been taken into custody by the police.
Hyderabad: Popular film actor Allu Arjun has been detained in connection with an incident that occurred at the Sandhya Theater during the premiere of the movie Pushpa 2: The Rule.
What Happened at the Sandhya Theater?
Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun in the lead role, was released worldwide on December 5. Premiere shows were organized in various locations on December 4 (Wednesday).
Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav provided detailed information regarding the stampede that took place during the event.
“The premiere show of Pushpa 2 was held at Sandhya Theater on RTC Cross Road at 9:40 PM on Wednesday. A large crowd of fans attended the event. However, the police were not informed that the key actors, along with fans, would be present at the theater. Additionally, the theater management failed to notify us and did not take any precautions. No private security was arranged to control the public at the theater’s entry and exit points," said DCP Yadav.
He further added, "Allu Arjun arrived at the Sandhya Theater at 9:40 PM with his personal security team. During his arrival, the security personnel began pushing the audience to manage the crowd. The theater was already packed both inside and outside. A scuffle ensued, leading to chaos.
Revathi, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, and her family were caught in the stampede. They fell to the ground, unable to breathe due to the overwhelming crowd. Police personnel promptly intervened and rescued them. Thirteen-year-old Sri Teja, Revathi's son, was given CPR and taken to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors confirmed that Revathi had already passed away. The doctors advised transferring Sri Teja to another hospital for further treatment.
A case has been registered based on the victim’s family’s complaint, and an investigation is underway," the DCP concluded.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun was taken into custody by the police on Friday.
