53 Railway stations across AP Being Redeveloped: SCR

Hyderabad: A major transformation is in progress for Indian Railways with upgradation of Railway stations on a massive scale, with a vision to provide world-class facilities to the passengers. Under the “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme” (ABSS), 53 Railway stations across Andhra Pradesh served by South Central Railway are being redeveloped with a cost of Rs 2,611 crore, to provide modern passenger amenities and convert them into growth centres to the regional population. The mission got a major boost when the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for stations redevelopment in Andhra Pradesh during August 2023 and February, 2024.
Major upgradation of Tirupati and Nellore Railway stations’ works are also taken up and are progressing in fast pace, apart from this, Tiruchanur Railway Station is being developed as a crossing station to decongest the ever-increasing pilgrim rush and the station is being upgraded with the provision of passenger amenities to facilitate rail users for experiencing a comfortable and convenience rail travel. Kadapa Railway station in Guntakal Division is one of the 53 Railway stations on SCR’s jurisdiction of Andhra Pradesh State which is being redeveloped under ABSS with an expenditure of Rs26.08 crore. The Kadapa junction station is an ‘NSG-3’ category Railway station with three platforms and five Rail tracks.
