Tata Power Co. Ltd plans to invest ₹20,000 crore in the current fiscal year, with a focus on expanding its renewable energy business and enhancing transmission and distribution operations.

This is in addition to its Rs 12,000 crore invested in FY24.

The investment announcement was made by Chairman N. Chandrasekaran during the company's 105th AGM.

The investment aims to accelerate the renewable energy portfolio and explore opportunities in small modular nuclear reactors, pending regulatory approvals.

N. Chandrasekaran further said that the Tata group company is in a strong position to spearhead India's transition to green energy by offering continuous renewable energy, particularly to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers.

Tata Power intended to increase its customer numbers from 12.5 million to 50 million and expand its market share in rooftop solar installations through the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

The goal is to increase renewable energy capacity from 9 GW to 15 GW within the next five years.
