On Wednesday, Indian stock market indices stayed within a narrow range.
The BSE Sensex moved between 78,896 and 79,114, ending up 50 points at about 79,000. The NSE Nifty 50 stayed around 24,150.
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index fell by more than 1 percent. Similarly, the SmallCap index decreased by 0.7 percent.
Apollo Hospital, Vodafone Idea, TCS, Motherson, and M&M were the top gainers on Nifty, while Piramal Enterprises, NMDC, Hindustan Copper Limited, Tata Steel and Biocon were the top losers.
