Gold futures rose Rs18 to Rs62,458 per 10 grams as speculators created fresh positions on firm spot demand. Silver futures fell Rs191 to Rs74,640 per kilogram as participants reduced their bets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs18 or 0.03 per cent at Rs62,458 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 16,650 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said. Globally, gold futures went up by 0.08 per cent to USD 2,046.20 per ounce in New York.
