New Delhi: Gold prices appreciated by Rs250 to hit a fresh all-time high of Rs78,700 per 10 grams on Monday on account of consistent buying support from jewellers and firm trends in the overseas markets. The precious metal had settled at Rs78,450 per 10 grams in the previous close on Friday. However, silver declined Rs200 to Rs94,000 per kg from Rs94,200 per kg on Friday, according to the All India Sarafa Association. Meanwhile, gold of 99.5 per cent purity climbed Rs200 to hit an all-time high level of Rs78,300 per 10 grams. The yellow metal had closed at Rs78,100 per 10 grams in the previous session. Traders attributed the gains in gold prices to an increase in the domestic demand by stockists and retailers.
