Futures Hog Limelight

Gold futures increased Rs86 to Rs72,013 per 10 grams as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand. Silver futures jumped Rs379 to Rs84,829 per kilogram as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

On Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery traded higher Rs86 or 0.12 per cent at Rs72,013 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 14,775 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures increased 0.21 per cent to $2,547.80 per ounce in New York. On MCX, silver contracts for December delivery increased Rs379 or 0.45 per cent to Rs84,829 per kg in 30,156 lots.
