Crude oil prices on Monday climbed Rs47 to Rs6,593 per barrel in futures trade as participants widened their positions following a firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for May delivery traded higher Rs47 or 0.72 per cent at Rs6,593 per barrel in 12,262 lots. Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in futures trade.
Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 0.90 per cent to $78.81 per barrel, and Brent crude traded 0.84 per cent higher at $83.66 per barrel in New York.
