Wall Street Eyes Rebound: Dow Futures Climb 200 Points in Early Trade

Dow Jones futures which fell by 80 points have now achieved gains of nearly 200 points and S&P 500 futures advanced by 27 points while Nasdaq futures rose by 90 points. Wall Street experienced a severe downturn during regular trading on Monday when US President Donald Trump criticized Fed Chair Jerome Powell and called for an immediate rate cut. The tirade sent equities into retreat while Gold reached unprecedented levels. The Dollar briefly dropped under 98 before bouncing back. Asian markets showed a better opening performance than anticipated after the sell-off by observing futures market signals while the 10-year yield climbed back to 4.4%. Copper Prices Hit Two Week High
Trading resumed on the London Metal Exchange for the first time since Thursday resulting in copper prices rising by more than 1% as base metals gained from the declining dollar value.
The decrease in value of the US dollar leads to lower prices for industrial commodities for international buyers using different currencies. The Bloomberg dollar index fell to its lowest level in 15 months on Monday while the London Metal Exchange remained closed for the second day of a UK holiday break.
Thailand Says Trump Tariff Talks Delayed
Thailand announced the postponement of ministerial level discussions that were planned this week amid its efforts to avoid 36% Trump tariffs from the Trump administration.
Deputy Prime Minister Pichai Chunhavajira will disclose more details about the new schedule for talks on Tuesday according to government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub.
China Alumina Exports Surge
The surplus of alumina in China drove exports to their second-largest level in March amid predictions that shipments will stay high for the coming months.
The latest Chinese customs data shows that exports of aluminum smelting raw material reached 300,000 tons after doubling from the previous year's level.
