TCS shines, Mcap of Six top-10 firms jumps by Rs 2.03 lakh crore,

The market capitalisation of six out of the top ten most valued firms surged by a staggering Rs 2.03 lakh crore last week, with the Indian stock market posting strong gains. From December 2 to December 6, Nifty saw a rise of 2.27% (546 points), while Sensex climbed 2.39% (1,906 points). This marks the third consecutive week of positive market performance.

Among the top 10 firms, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Reliance Industries, and State Bank of India (SBI) posted gains, while Bharti Airtel, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), ITC, and Hindustan Unilever saw declines.

TCS emerged as the biggest gainer, with its market cap rising by Rs 62,574 crore, reaching Rs 16.08 lakh crore. HDFC Bank also saw significant growth, adding Rs 45,338 crore, bringing its market valuation to Rs 14.19 lakh crore. Other notable gainers included Infosys (up Rs 26,885 crore to Rs 7.98 lakh crore), Reliance Industries (up Rs 26,185 crore to Rs 17.75 lakh crore), and SBI (up Rs 22,311 crore to Rs 7.71 lakh crore). ICICI Bank added Rs 19,821 crore, bringing its market cap to Rs 9.37 lakh crore.

In contrast, Bharti Airtel's market valuation fell by Rs 16,720 crore to Rs 9.10 lakh crore, while ITC lost Rs 7,256 crore, dropping to Rs 5.89 lakh crore. Hindustan Unilever saw a decrease of Rs 2,843 crore to Rs 5.84 lakh crore, and LIC's market cap declined by Rs 1,265 crore, falling to Rs 6.22 lakh crore.

On Friday, the market ended on a slight downtrend, with Sensex losing 56 points and Nifty dropping by 30 points.
