The indices, which started with modest gains, quickly slipped into losses as shares like Reliance, ICICI Bank, and others faced selling pressure. Additionally, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued to pull funds from the market, dampening investor sentiment.
The Sensex opened with a slight gain at 79,611.90 points, up from its previous close of 79,541.79. However, after early fluctuations, it dropped to an intraday low of 79,117.37, eventually closing at 79,486.32, marking a loss of 55.47 points. Meanwhile, the Nifty declined by 51.15 points to end the session at 24,148. The rupee was trading at 84.37 against the dollar.
