Stock market indices surged in early trading today, with the Sensex reaching a new all-time high of 78,674, marking a gain of 134.64 points. The Nifty at 23,868.80
However, market conditions turned volatile later in the session as profit-taking emerged, causing fluctuations in both benchmarks.
UltraTech Cement, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC, Bajaj Finance, and Tata Motors were among the top gainers among Sensex constituents. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, Tata Steel, and JSW Steel faced declines.
In Asian markets, Seoul and Tokyo saw gains, while Shanghai and Hong Kong reported losses. US markets closed mostly higher on Tuesday.
Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, rose to USD 85.36 per barrel, up 0.41%.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,175.91 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.
