Indian stock indices opened in red on Thursday, with the Sensex down by 600 points to 79,452 and the Nifty down by over 183 points to 24,230.

On the other hand, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 index opened in red in the broader markets.

Most of the sectoral indices are trading in red, excluding NIFTY IT, FMCG and Healthcare, among others.

Tata Motors, ONGC, HINDPETRO, Biocon, and BPCL were among the stocks that rallied on Thursday.
