Is Stock Market Open for Trading Today? Know Key Details

Indian stock exchanges, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed today on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti 2025. Regular trading will commence from Friday, April 11. Mahavir Jayanti is among the 14 scheduled market holidays in 2025.

Trading in all the market segments—including equities, derivatives, currency trading, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and electronic gold receipts (EGR)— will remain suspended for the entire day.

Moreover, trading in Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also remain suspended during the morning trading session from 09:00 am - 5:00 pm. However, the exchange will again reopen for its evening session from 5:00 pm - 11:30 pm.

Stock market holidays in 2025

Following this month, markets will remain shut on May 1 (Maharashtra Day), August 15 (Independence Day) and August 27 (Ganesh Chaturthi).

During the final quarter of 2025, the stock market will remain shut on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra), October 21–22 (Diwali), November 5 (Prakash Gurpurb). The year will conclude with a market holiday on December 25 for Christmas.
