Following the auspicious celebrations of Dhanteras, the country is set to celebrate Diwali with full swing in 2024. However, among the investor community there seems to be confusion building up regarding the exact dates of Diwali. Some believe that Diwali will be celebrated on October 31, while others perceive the celebrations to be November 1. To avoid all the confusion, if we have a look at Drik Panchang (Hindu Calendar), the festival of lights will be celebrated on 31 October 2024.
Stock market holidays in October 2024
To avoid confusion, people can have a look at the BSE website, i.e. bseinida.com. There, if we click the ‘Trading Holiday’ option on the top, it will show a list of holidays where the stock market remains closed. As per the list of holidays mentioned on the website, there is only one stock market holiday in the month of October. The holiday falls on October 2, which happens to be Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. So, going by this information, the stock market will remain open on 31 October i.e. today.
Stock market holidays in November
Following Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, the next holiday falls on November 1 as mentioned above. Trading in the currency and derivative segment will also remain closed on 1st November 2024. Notably, markets will also remain closed on November 15 on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
