Indian stock exchanges including Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on March 31 on the observance of Eid al-Fitr. Followed by regular weekend closures on March 29 and March 30, trading activities will resume from April 1.
All market operations, including equities, derivatives, currency markets, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and electronic gold receipts (EGR) will remain closed.

Additional closures
The exchanges will also remain closed on Maharashtra Day (May 1), Independence Day (August 15), and Ganesh Chaturthi (August 27).
During the final quarter of the year, markets will remain closed on the occasions of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra (October 2), Diwali (October 21-22), Prakash Gurpurb (November 5), and Christmas (December 25).
Market overview
In FY25, Dalal Street witnessed a substantial gain of ₹25.90 lakh crore as Sensex clocked a growth of 5% amid positive global cues. However, the equity markets largely remained prone to fluctuations throughout FY25.
During fiscal year 2024-25, Sensex increased by 3,763.57 points, clocking a rise of 5.10%, while Nifty went up by 1,192.45 points, marking a growth of 5.34%.
Market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms expanded by ₹25,90,546.73 crore to ₹4,12,87,646.50 crore (USD 4.82 trillion) in FY25.
