New Delhi Reiterating on the importance of road safety, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reached out to more than 2000 students from 25 schools in Delhi-NCR to educate them about safety standards and protocols related to vehicular mobility.
One of the largest automobile association held its biennial event virtually from May 17th to May 23rd with lectures centred on the theme Streets for Life #Love30, in association with the Delhi Traffic Police.
Speaking on the occasion, Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM urged people to be mindful of risk associated with speed and ensure our streets become accessible and safer for all. As per WHO report, low-speed streets save lives as a five per cent cut in average vehicle speed can result in significant decrease in fatal crashes.
SIAM in close association with Delhi Police, and many other stakeholders have consistently been undertaking multiple initiatives and creating awareness on road safety. Earlier last week, SIAM had hosted its third lecture on the theme of Electric Vehicles in India: On-road safety, operations and maintenance to highlight various aspects of development of EV aftermarket ecosystem.
During the lecture, Banerjee had said that with the current decade being considered as the decade of electrification, SIAM has embarked on a campaign of 'walk the talk' to delve deeper into the electrification of auto mobility.
