RINL Day ends on low-key note
THE 39th Formation Day of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) remained a low-key event this year on Thursday following the decision by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to sell 100 per cent government equity to private parties.

Visakhapatnam: THE 39th Formation Day of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) remained a low-key event this year on Thursday following the decision by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to sell 100 per cent government equity to private parties.
The employee unions including CITU, AITUC, INTUC and YSR Congress Trade Union abstained from daylong celebrations. The Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions organised a road blockade from Kurmannapalem gate to Kanithi Balancing Reservoir Road for some time.
CPI (M) State secretary P Madhu, who was here to participate in a meeting by the employees, said all the parties should mount pressure on the BJP-led NDA Government to shelve its plans for strategic sale of RINL. He said denial of captive mines was the main reason for increase in debt liability of RINL to Rs 22,000 crore.
The management distributed Jawaharlal Nehru awards to meritorious employees. A garden competition was held on the occasion. CISF employees were also feted at a simple function organised by the officials.
