Rajiv Dhar is NIIF’s interim CEO

New Delhi: National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), a quasi-sovereign wealth fund, on Thursday said its board has appointed Rajiv Dhar as interim managing director and CEO. The appointment is effective May 11, NIIF said in a statement. The planned succession follows Sujoy Bose's request to relieve him from his current responsibilities as MD and CEO, it said. Dhar, executive director and chief operating officer, has been part of NIIF since 2017. The government had set up the Rs 40,000-crore NIIF in December 2016 as an investment vehicle for funding commercially viable greenfield, brownfield and stalled projects. It was envisioned as a mother fund with several sectoral feeder funds. Government capital in NIIF covers three funds -- Master Fund, Fund of Funds, and Strategic Opportunities Fund (together referred to as NIIF) -- all managed by the same investment manager (NIIF Limited).

Wheat output at 112.18 mn tonnes

New Delhi: india's wheat production may surpass the government's estimate of record 112.18 million tonnes in the 2022-23 crop year (July-June) on a likely jump in crop yields in major growing states despite inclement weather affecting the grain quality in some parts, Agriculture Commissioner P K Singh said on Thursday. Weeks before the untimely rains, the government in its second estimate released in February projected wheat output at 112.18 million tonnes for the 2022-23 crop year. The previous record in wheat production was 109.59 million tonnes in 2020-21 crop year. "Overall, the wheat production is likely to surpass the estimate of 112.18 million tonne on account of better crop yields," Singh told PTI.

Rs.5K-cr Medico City to set up in Ranchi

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government will set up a 'Medico City' on a public-private-partnership (PPP) basis in Ranchi's Kanke area at an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, officials said on Thursday. It will have more than 10 super specialty hospitals with a capacity of around 5,000 beds, they said. It will come up on 76.34-acre land on the campus of Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), they added. Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a high-level meeting with senior government officials, and a consultancy agency regarding it on Wednesday. "Several super specialty hospitals will be built at the Medico City. In such a situation, there should be a proper use of the land. The investors should be given land for the construction of hospitals according to their needs," he told officials. "The hospitals will introduce their own ambulance service, which might create chaos and confusion among patients. So, a centralised ambulance service should be set up," he said.
