Paytm reports Rs208 cr loss

New Delhi: Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications Limited has clocked a loss of Rs208 crore in the third quarter of FY25, from Rs222 crore in the same quarter last year. In Q3 FY25, the company’s revenue declined by 36 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs1,828 crore, from Rs2,851 crore in the same period last year.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, Paytm’s revenue surged by 10 per cent, supported by a rise in gross merchandise value (GMV), good growth in subscription revenues and higher revenue from distri-bution of financial services.

Paytm said that “we have been able to reduce our indirect cost by 7 per cent QoQ and 23 per cent YoY to Rs1,000 crore. Going forward, we expect calibrated growth in marketing costs and sales employee expenses as we invest in customer and merchant acquisition.”

CBI profit jumps 33% to Rs959 cr

New Delhi: State-owned Central Bank of India posted a 33 per cent increase in its profit at Rs959 crore in the third quarter ended December 2024.

The bank had earned a net profit of Rs718 crore in the same quarter a year ago. Total income in-creased to Rs9,739 crore during the quarter under review against Rs9,139 crore in the same peri-od last year, the Central Bank of India said in a regulatory filing. The interest income of the bank also rose to Rs8,509 crore during the quarter compared to Rs7,809 crore in the same period a year ago.

Operating profit of the bank improved to Rs1,963 crore as against Rs1,931 crore in Decem-ber 2023. On the asset quality side, the bank’s gross Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) declined to 3.86 per cent of the total loans at the end of December 2024 from 4.50 per cent a year ago. Net NPAs or bad loans also came down to 0.59 per cent from 1.27 per cent at the end of the third quarter of the previous fiscal.
