Mumbai: AFTER having successfully launched the 'Breathe' collection from her fashion design venture, Dharang during the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week's Vitrual Showroom, Priyadarshini Sahay, a Mumbai-based lady entrepreneur, has lots of plans up her sleeves for future.

A Management Graduate from JBIMS, Priyadarshini aims at amalgamating decade-old practices of India to contemporary fashion and increase relevance of slow fashion to Next Gen.

In fact, the launch of 'Breathe' formed part of collections from a wide range of designers aiming to link them with buyers and create international business opportunities.

LFW's second edition of its Virtual Showroom has launched on its website for registered buyers across the world, the organisation announced on Facebook. To be precise, 'Breathe' is a collection of loose fit layers made from Kala cotton in neutral hues. The collection features subtle stripes and checks with pops of colour from marigold yellow pieces.

Priyadarshini is a self-taught fashion designer, who grew up living Indian textile and heritage crafts. Her vision to sustainable fashion, love for Indian textile & crafts has led to form CFAC Design Dharang, leaving her corporate profile at Reliance Communication.

Talking to Bizz Buzz, Priyadarshini said, "Dharang's 'Breathe' collection is inspired from the liveliness of our artisans and weavers who, despite a host of challenges, try every possible means to give a new lease of life to the lost glory of Indian textiles."

Our very own, she went on, indigenous Desi Cotton, aka, Kala Cotton, is one of the most organic and pest resistant fabric which allows our skin to breathe, base its texture and hand spinning process. Designs and patterns are given a contemporary streak to make it a popular choice amongst the conscious and mindful consumers. This collection aims at delivering on our promise to sustainability and set an example before our coming generations to keep the purity of ecology intact and maintain the freshness of air as a guiding force, while being fashionable.

It calls us to be kinder to our Mother Earth thereby giving a new lease of life to her elements. Every ensemble in 'Breathe' speaks of smiles, craft and oozing style, she said.

Just like our lives, a fusion of multiple aspects, Dharang is a cocktail of modern styles, heritage arts and crafts with a perfect 'punch of sustainability'.

Dharang ethos, she said, is rooted in Indian weaves, crafts and techniques. Believing in minimal and mindful fashion, we endeavor to keep alive the decade-old techniques of prints, weaves and crafts, that sustains our Indian community of artisans and weavers.

According to Priyadarshini, "With the beautiful and intricate rendition of the Madhubani painting, Sujani embroidery, Ajrakh Block Printing and Ikat tie-die technique, Dharang connects all the possible dots lied on Indian heritage map. Our very own Indian handwoven & hand-spun fabrics like Khadi, Linen and Kala Cotton, finds a match with our design philosophy of slow & conscious fashion, albeit, with contemporary cuts & patterns." On her association with LFW VS, Priyadarshini says that buyers and consumers across India have shown enthusiasm to the sustainable ethos of Dharang. Lakme Fashion Week Virtual Platform has given a fillip to her endeavor towards the sustainable and conscious ways of fashion, while being kind to environment.
