OYO sees sharp rise in travel agents
New Delhi: Hospitality technology platform OYO on Wednesday said it has witnessed over 150 per cent growth in travel agency enrollment in the financial year ended March 31. The company attributed the growth to the travel resurgence in India over the last few years, that widened business opportunities for travel agencies. A total of over 5,300 travel agencies across India worked with OYO in the financial year ended on March 31, 2023, compared to approximately 2,100 travel agencies in fiscal year 2021-22. OYO has a large network of over 17,000 hotels globally. "Collaborating with travel agencies is not just about expanding our reach, it's about cultivating a partnership that fosters mutual growth. "They play a crucial role in our business growth by distributing our hotel inventory more efficiently to a larger pool of guests, understanding market trends, customer preferences, helping us improve our offerings and services," said Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer-India Business, OYO.
IndiGo flight from Tiruchirappalli diverted
Mumbai: A Singapore-bound IndiGo flight from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu was diverted to Kualanamu airport, Medan (Indonesia) on Tuesday due to a burning smell in the cabin, the airline said on Wednesday. "A320ceo operating 6E-1007 from Tiruchirappalli to Singapore was diverted to Kualanamu airport, Medan (Indonesia). During cruise there was a burning smell noted in the cabin by the crew," the airline said in a statement. The pilot followed procedures and as a precaution diverted to nearest airport, Kualanamu and the aircraft landed safely, it added. It also said that initial aircraft inspections on ground were satisfactory.
Goldi Solar ties up with YES Bank
New Delhi: Solar energy solutions provider Goldi Solar on Wednesday announced its collaboration with YES Bank for financing solar projects for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Under the private sector bank's YES KIRAN programme, YES Bank will offer financial assistance to MSME manufacturers, who wish to install solar panels at their premises, Goldi Solar said in a statement. The platform will process all the loan applications for solar projects sourced from across the country for installation by business entities such as commercial institutions, industries, resorts, hotels, manufacturing units, and warehouses that can utilise this secured financing instrument to switch to solar power. Also, consumers can receive technical assistance at their doorstep and get loan approvals faster.
JSW Steel crude steel output up 7%
New Delhi: JSW Steel on Wednesday posted a 7 per cent growth in crude steel production on standalone basis at 17.77 lakh tonne (LT) in April 2023. The company had produced 16.67 LT steel during the same month last year, JSW Steel said in a statement. In April 2023, the company said the production of its flat-rolled products rose 16 per cent to 13.92 LT from 12 LT a year ago. However, its long-rolled products output fell 9 per cent to 3.21 LT from 3.54 LT in April 2022. "Production of rolled long-products is lower due to planned capital shutdowns taken at Salem and Vijayanagar plant locations during April 2023," it said. JSW Steel is among top six steel manufacturing companies in India.
