New Delhi, Feb 16 With special focus on women-led realty space and to encourage their large participation, the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) will host its first ever realty convention on February 25 in the national capital.

The council's women wing called 'NAREDCO MAHI' was established to empower women entrepreneurs and to further encourage participation of women in the real estate sector and allied fields.

The convention is titled 'Realty Women -- The Transforming Catalyst to Real Estate'.

"We have moved into the era of inclusive workplace culture where both men and women have the environment to succeed. Even the real estate sector which has so far been male dominated, is now embracing and valuing diversity and high ethical standards, thus, providing opportunities for women to take on broader roles," said Tara Subramaniam, President, NAREDCO-MAHI.

The realty sector is now headed to attract more female talent and eventually have a larger talent base to pick from, said Subramaniam, adding that this is the core idea behind the council's initiative on introducing the women wing.

"Women by nature are multi-taskers as they are good at balancing work and family, which is a critical aspect in real estate, owing to the nature of the business."

"Women in various segments of the sector are able to weave in a unique mix of combination that is compassion, assertiveness, focus and determination," said Rajan Bandelkar, NAREDCO President.

With the realty sector becoming more organised and marching towards maturity, the industry needs to see more women taking on leadership roles in all segments of real estate development as well as for consultancy, Bandelkar added.

NAREDCO is an autonomous self-regulatory body under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
