AP seeks Centre's support to set up

Visakhapatnam: ANDHRA Pradesh has sought the support of the Centre for developing Kopparthy in YSR Kadapa district and Orvakal in Kurnool district as industrial hubs.

With large land banks, proximity to domestic demand centres, and availability of skilled workforce, the locations are well suited to lead the industrial development in the State. Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy during his two-day visit to New Delhi, which concluded on Thursday asked the Centre to establish multi-modal logistics parks in Kadapa and Kurnool and assistance for establishment of integrated toy parks.

He said the State Government is focusing on developing the toy sector. The sector has been identified as one of the focus sectors in the industrial policy of 2018-23.

"We have further identified 114 clusters under SFURTI and MSE CDP. The government proposes to establish an integrated toys park covering the complete gamut of traditional/electronic/plush toys for domestic and export markets. With financial assistance in this regard, the Centre would help create a world-class integrated toy park that would stand as a model for emulation," he pointed out.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi's vision 'Vocal for Local,' he said the State has identified 13 products from its 13 districts. These products are a mix of handlooms, handicrafts, toys, food processing and minerals.

A broad action plan has been envisaged for cluster diagnostic study, SPV formation, DPR preparation, district action plan preparation, Implementation, monitoring and evaluation. "We are seeking financial assistance from the Central Government for cluster diagnostic study and marketing support," he said.

Reddy said the State Government firmly stands to provide pro-active administration, skilled and abundant manpower, and supportive policies to enable industrialisation. "We have been consistently ranked No. 1 in the State Reforms Action Plan as part of the DPIIT programme – a testimony to our commitment towards ensuring seamless governance with growing investor confidence for sustainable industrial development," he stated.
