Hyderabad: AS part of its empathetic response to Covid-19 crisis, Mahindra Group donated three oxygen plants and 12 ambulances to various government and charitable hospitals in Telangana. The event was flagged off at St Theresa by IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, in the presence of Mahindra & Mahindra Board Member and Tech Mahindra MD & CEO CP Gurnani.
During the Covid-19 crisis, Mahindra Group has supported the State government by providing emergency cab services for vaccinating the elderly and transporting oxygen cylinders as a part of its Oxygen on Wheels initiative. It has also provided face shields, ration kits, cooked meals, face masks, PPE kits, aerosol boxes and medical equipment for hospitals.
Tech Mahindra Foundation has supported the installation of a 500 LPM oxygen plant at St Theresa Hospital, a 200-bed hospital in Hyderabad set up for marginalised communities. In addition, Mahindra & Mahindra has installed a 1,000 LPM oxygen plant in Mahabubnagar district and a 500 LPM Oxygen Plant in the industrial town of Zaheerabad.
KTR said, "The pandemic has shown us the importance of healthcare and the need for collective action. Mahindra Group has been working proactively and efficiently with the Telangana government to support our fight against Covid-19. The oxygen plants and ambulances will help charitable hospitals provide emergency medical services to impoverished and marginalised communities."
CP Gurnani said, "The pandemic has emphasised the need to build an emergency healthcare infrastructure. This will require coming together of industries, government and citizens in our fight against the global pandemic. I strongly believe that by strengthening our healthcare infrastructure and by supporting each other to stay safe, we can address the challenges posed by this pandemic."
In addition to installing 23 oxygen plants and donating 90 ambulances across 19 States, Mahindra Group has committed substantial funds across India.
