Huge Crash In Stock Market: Investor Lost ₹10 lakh Crores
On Monday, Dalal Street experienced a significant downturn, with the Indian stock market enduring considerable losses throughout the day. The Sensex benchmark plummeted nearly 900 points, while the Nifty fell close to 23,000 points.
As a result, the total market capitalization of BSE-listed companies shrank to ₹410 lakh crore, leading to a staggering loss of nearly ₹10 lakh crore for investors within just one trading session. In fact, over the past two days, the collective losses have amounted to around ₹15 lakh crore.
Dr. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services, commented, "This 6-day week is likely to be highly volatile with other major events like the Fed decision and the Budget in India. The market is looking forward to fiscal stimulus through income tax cuts in the budget. If the expectations are met, there can be a relief rally in the market. But if a rally is to sustain, we need data indicating growth and earnings revival."
Market analysts have pointed out that global uncertainties have played a significant role in lowering investor sentiment. Trade tensions and geopolitical risks have only heightened these concerns. Additionally, disappointing corporate quarterly earnings have failed to provide any much-needed relief to the current market situation.
