Trading will be available across various segments including equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB) during this period.

Leading Indian stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, have announced a special one-hour 'Muhurat Trading' session on November 1, in celebration of Diwali and the start of the new Samvat 2081. This symbolic session will take place from 6 PM to 7 PM, as stated in separate circulars released by the exchanges.

The session marks the beginning of the new Samvat, a Hindu calendar year that commences on Diwali. It is believed that trading during the ‘Muhurat’ or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth to investors. The stock market will remain closed for regular trading on Diwali, but will open this special trading window for one hour in the evening.

The exchanges have also announced that the pre-opening session will occur from 5:45 PM to 6:00 PM. Market analysts note that Diwali is considered an ideal time to start new ventures, and investors often look forward to trading during this session for its symbolic significance.

While the one-hour trading window can lead to market volatility, the emphasis is more on the tradition and the auspiciousness of the gesture rather than profitability. Trading during the session will be available across various segments including equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures & options, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB).
