Commodity Watch: Copper Futures Gain On Higher Demand

New Delhi: Copper futures on Thursday climbed Rs4.85 to Rs884.85 per kilogram on the back of higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for April delivery rose Rs4.85 or 0.55 per cent to Rs884.85 per kg in a business turnover of 1,469 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
Aluminium futures up on fresh bets
Aluminium prices on Thursday rose Rs2.45 to Rs261.45 per kilogram in the futures market as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in April increased Rs2.45 or 0.95 per cent to Rs261.45 per kg in 309 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.
Zinc futures climb on positive trend
Zinc prices on Thursday inched up Rs1.90 to Rs274.70 per kilogram in the futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for April delivery traded higher by Rs1.90 or 0.7 per cent at Rs274.70 per kg with a business turnover of 123 lots.
Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants, following a pick-up in demand from consuming industries kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.
