A Texas resident has set a new Guinness World Record by donating an extraordinary amount of breast milk. Alyssa Ogletree, 36, has donated an impressive 2,645.58 litres, surpassing her own previous record from 2014 when she donated 1,569.79 litres. Her remarkable achievement has not only earned her recognition from Guinness World Records but also highlighted the significant impact of breast milk donation.

Ogletree's journey began in 2010, following the birth of her son Kyle. Realizing she was producing an excess amount of milk, a nurse suggested she donate the surplus to mothers who were struggling to feed their babies. This idea resonated with her, sparking a passion that led to her record-breaking contributions.

Over the years, Ogletree continued to donate milk after the births of her other sons, Kage (12) and Kory (7), and even after serving as a surrogate mother. She maintained a rigorous pumping schedule, expressing milk every three hours, including overnight sessions. Despite having no medical condition to explain her high milk production, Ogletree attributes her success to staying hydrated, eating healthily, and consistently following her pumping routine.

According to the Mothers' Milk Bank of North Texas, a single litre of breast milk can sustain 11 premature babies. Based on this estimate, Ogletree’s donations have potentially benefited over 350,000 babies. Her dedication and generosity have made a significant difference in many lives, and she hopes to inspire other women to consider donating breast milk.

“I have a big heart, but at the end of the day, I'm not made of money and can't give away money to good causes over and over because I have a family to support. But donating milk was a way I could give back,” Ogletree shared in a recent interview on the Guinness World Records website.

Ogletree is eager to spread awareness about the importance of breast milk donation. She believes many women might not realize they could help other mothers and their babies by donating excess milk. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have on countless lives through selfless acts of kindness.
