The United States has launched its largest deportation operation in history, targeting undocumented immigrants across the country. A significant number of Indian nationals are among those being sent back to their home country as part of this initiative.
A C-17 US military aircraft departed for India just hours ago, carrying 205 Indian nationals who had entered the country without proper documentation or had overstayed their visas. Reports indicate that the flight is en route to Amritsar, Punjab, and is expected to take approximately 24 hours to reach its destination.
The crackdown comes under the administration of US President Donald Trump, who has maintained a strong stance against illegal immigration. His policies emphasize stricter enforcement measures, including large-scale deportations, which have now led to the removal of individuals from various nationalities, including a substantial number of Indians.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs has responded, reaffirming its position against illegal immigration. Authorities in New Delhi have highlighted their commitment to allowing Indian nationals to return from any part of the world, including the United States, even if they lack valid visas or necessary travel documents. Officials have also pointed out that illegal migration is often linked to organized criminal networks, making it a matter of concern for both governments.
Amid these developments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the United States soon. The issue of immigration and deportation is likely to be on the agenda, with diplomatic discussions anticipated between both nations on migration policies and bilateral relations.
