In a significant turn of events for Indian law enforcement, U.S. authorities have notified the Mumbai Police about the presence of Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, on American soil.
Acting promptly, the Mumbai Police has initiated extradition proceedings for Anmol Bishnoi, 25, who is linked to several high-profile cases, including a shooting incident near Bollywood actor Salman Khan's home.
Last month, the Mumbai Police filed a petition in a special court seeking permission to commence extradition efforts. On October 16, they informed the court of their intention to bring Anmol back to India to face charges related to the Salman Khan case.
A senior police official revealed that Anmol is believed to have orchestrated various operations for his brother, who is currently incarcerated in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail.
Additionally, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently announced a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to Anmol Bishnoi's arrest. He is wanted for his alleged involvement in the shooting incident outside Salman Khan's residence in April and has been placed on the NIA's most-wanted list.
Anmol is also implicated in the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, which occurred on October 12 in Mumbai's Bandra.
A Mumbai court recently denied bail to one of the two individuals accused in the shooting near Salman Khan's home, stating they acted with the intent to kill, allegedly under Anmol's instigation. Both brothers, hailing from Fazilka in Punjab, are wanted in this case.
