Amid widespread outrage over attacks on minorities in Bangladesh since the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, US Presidential candidate Donald Trump has strongly condemned the violence, describing the country as being “in a total state of chaos.”

“I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a total state of chaos,” the former American president stated on social media platform X on Friday night, while extending his wishes for Diwali.

He continued: “It would have never happened on my watch. Kamala and Joe have ignored Hindus across the world and in America. They have been a disaster from Israel to Ukraine to our own Southern Border, but we will Make America Strong Again and bring back Peace through Strength!” Trump also pledged to “protect Hindu Americans against the anti-religion agenda of the radical left.”

He asserted, “We will fight for your freedom. Under my administration, we will also strengthen our great partnership with India and my good friend, Prime Minister Modi.”

Reminding the public of the stakes, Trump said, “Kamala Harris will destroy your small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes. By contrast, I cut taxes, cut regulations, unleashed American energy, and built the greatest economy in history. We will do it again, bigger and better than ever before — and we will Make America Great Again.”

Last month, India condemned the ongoing attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh, calling them “deplorable,” and urged the neighboring country to ensure the safety and security of all minorities.

Reports have surfaced of Hindu places of worship being targeted since August, with accounts of vandalism affecting businesses and properties of minorities.

A ground report from August 13 by The Indian Express indicated at least 205 incidents of attacks on the Hindu community across 52 districts since the fall of the Hasina government on August 5.

In response, the interim government established a hotline for reporting attacks on Hindu temples, churches, or other religious institutions belonging to minorities.
