Meta, led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, according to a CNN report. This donation follows a private meeting between Zuckerberg and Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida two weeks ago.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the contribution, with CNN confirming the news through a Meta spokesperson.

On Thursday, President Trump posted a photo on Facebook and Twitter showing him shaking hands with Zuckerberg but did not disclose details of their conversation.

The meeting between Trump and Zuckerberg, described by a Meta representative as occurring at a crucial time for US innovation, suggests that Zuckerberg may be seeking a more influential role in the incoming administration, potentially shaping tech policy. Despite the significance of the visit, Zuckerberg did not stay for Thanksgiving.

This marks a notable shift from nearly four years ago when Meta banned Trump from its platforms following the January 6, 2021 insurrection.

Zuckerberg-Trump Relations

The relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump has been contentious, particularly after Facebook banned Trump in January 2021 following the Capitol riot. Trump had previously suggested the possibility of imprisoning Zuckerberg, accusing him of meddling in the 2020 election.
