Kazan’s airport has returned to normal operations after a temporary closure on Saturday due to a Ukrainian drone attack. The attack targeted a residential area, but fortunately, no casualties were reported. Authorities took swift action to cancel weekend events and arranged temporary shelters for evacuees. Additionally, nearby airports in Izhevsk and Saratov faced brief disruptions but have since resumed service.

According to Russia’s aviation watchdog, Kazan’s airport, situated in a city renowned for its rich history and culture, was closed following the early morning drone strikes. The Russian Defence Ministry reported that three waves of attacks occurred, with six drones being successfully neutralized by defense systems.

Kazan’s mayor confirmed the absence of casualties and emphasized the city’s prompt response in providing accommodation for those affected. The situation has now stabilized, and regular operations at the airport have recommenced.
