ISRO, NASA Set To Launch NISAR Satellite
Recently, NASA and ISRO announced a substantial collaboration that will transform earth monitoring and disaster readiness.
The extremely anticipated satellite known as the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite will help track changes to the Earth's surface as well as ice sheets, glaciers, sea ice, and vegetation, tracking movements with precision down to "fractions of an inch."
The NISAR mission will monitor the movement of nearly the whole planet's land and ice-covered surface twice every 12 days, providing researchers with a more complete picture of how Earth is changing over time.
Furthermore, the mission is slated to launch next year from India's Satish Dhawan Space Centre. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-II rocket from ISRO will be used to send the satellite into low Earth orbit.
