Indian students reconsidering UK University applications amidst financial and safety concerns
Indian students are increasingly reconsidering applications to UK universities, exacerbating financial strains on educational institutions already facing budgetary constraints, according to a new report on the stability of the higher education sector in England.
The analysis, based on UK Home Office data from 2022-23 to 2023-24, reveals a significant 20.4 percent decline in the number of Indian students receiving confirmations of acceptance for studies (CAS) from UK providers. The figures dropped from 139,914 to 111,329.
Indian student groups in the UK attribute this decline to limited job prospects and safety concerns following recent anti-immigration riots in some cities.
