India Signed 8 MoUs With Mauritius, Said Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri

India has signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the Mauritius government, according to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at a news briefing. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will release the specific contents of the MoU later.
During the press briefing, he said, "There has been an exchange of as many as 8 MoUs. The PM also announced India's support towards the construction of the new Parliament building in Mauritius."
Speaking about the details of PM Modi's visit, Misri said, "Formal delegation-level talks were held between PM Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius, where they took stock in detail of development partnership initiatives, trade and economic ties. They have adopted a joint vision for an enhanced strategic partnership. This elevates our partnership to a level of strategic partnership. It is the first such partnership India has concluded with any nation in its neighborhood."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also conferred with Mauritius' highest national award on Wednesday during his visit to the island nation. While accepting the honor at the National Day celebrations in Port Louis, Modi dedicated the award to the Indian ancestors who migrated to Mauritius centuries ago.
On the last day, Modi and Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam jointly inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation. PM Modi said that the institute will serve as the hub for learning and research.
